Read “The Goose Girl” story again. Answer the questions. Compare and discuss your answer with your classmates’.

1. What is the story about?

Answer:

The story is about a princess who was sent to marry a prince of Bayern and fought for her stolen identity

2. What special abilities did the main character have that other characters in the story did not?

Answer:

The special ability that the main character had was speaking to animal and nature.

3. Why wasn’t Ani appointed as Kildenree queen even though she was the first child in the family?

Answer:

Ani wasn’t appointed as Kildenress queen though she was the first child in the family because her mother, the queen, was afraid that people in Kildenree would never trust Ani due to her ability to talk to animals.

4. Explain how ‘the goose girl’ got her name.

Answer:

‘The goose girl’ got her name as she worked with geese in the kingdom of Bayern.

5. What was Selia’s plan to abolish Kildenree?

Answer:

Selia stole the identity of Princess Ani, and went to Bayern and get close to the prince. She said that Kildenree will attack Bayern, so Bayern planned to attack Kildenree first.

6. How did Ani finally get her identity back?

Answer:

Ani finally got her identity back after she confronted Selia and proved herself to the king of Bayern and Geric.

Ani was helped by Talone, her old guard.

1. How did Ani’s character change in the story?

Answer:

At the beginning of the story, Ani was innocent and doubt of her own identity.

However, at the end of the story, it was told that Ani grew into a brave and courageous lady.

She changed from fearful girl to brave girl to fight Selia.

2. Describe Ani’s and the queen’s characteristics? What differences and similarities are there?

Answer:

Ani was once an innocent girl who used to live under her mother’s shadow.

But then, she grew into a brave and courageous lady.

Meanwhile, the queen was a firm and thoughtful person. 

She gave so much concern about her people and kingdom.

3. In the story, it was told that the queen did not appoint Ani as the future queen.

What do you think of the queen’s deed? Is it a betrayal?

Is it a political move? Or is it a selfish act? Why? Explain.

Answer (Kunci Jawaban):

I think the queen choice was right because Ani was not ready and people's perspective on Ani was so bad.

It's not a betrayal. The queen wanted Ani to marry prince of Bayern for the sake of the both kingdoms.

4. What lessons can you learn from the story?

Answer:

- Cherish and honor you.

- Be brave, take a chance and be your own master.

- Be honest and be yourself.

- Don’t give up and keep moving on.

- Accept yourself and be grateful to everything you have.

1. Have you ever found a similar character to Selia around you? Tell us the person’s characteristics. If you are asked to give the person an advice, what would the advice be?

Answer:

Yes, I have found a similiar character to Selia around me. The person's characteristics are selfish and envious (easily envy others).

If I were asked to give advice to the person, my advice would be betrayal will not lead to anything good.

2. Have you ever been surprised with a reward for doing good deeds and a warning or even punishment for doing bad things? Describe your experience.

Answer:

I once helped an old lady near my house, next day, she gave me a present to thank me.

3. After reading ‘The Goose Girl’ story, how do you understand fairy tales?

Answer:

Fairy tales are magical stories, unreal story, but they have moral messages that we can learn from it.

Fairy Tale is a story that has an Imagery from the author, usually the time setting in the past or long time-time ago, and has moral value inside it.
