A Look and Share
Loot at the pictures. Discuss which are healthy and less healthy foods and drinks.

ANSWERS

Based on the pictures, the healthy foods and drinks include gado-gado, rujak, and es pisang ijo.
Those foods are healthy because they are rich with vegetables and fruits, which are sources of various vitamins.

Meanwhile, the less healthy foods and drinks are cendol, tinutuan, crispy deep­fried prawn ulakan, pempek, and Aceh noodles.

I think they are less healthy because they tend to be oily, and relatively high in fat.

ANSWERS

1. The speakers (Niken and Samsidar) are talking about healthy foods, because one of them has stomachache after eating spicy food.

2. As Niken knows about the right food to eat, Samsidar feels a little bit astonished and he wonders what kind of right foods according to Niken.

3. Samsidar will most likely follow Niken's advice.

4. Niken suggests Samsidar that he should take medicine for his stomachache. and then, he should always eat the right and healthy foods.

5. Consuming too much caffeine should be avoided because it can affect our health.

Caffeine can cause insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, nausea, increased heart rate, and other side effects.

Larger doses might cause headache, anxiety, and chest pain.

Besides, caffeine is likely unsafe when used in very high doses. It can cause irregular heartbeat and even death.

Samsidar: My stomach hurts. What should I do?
Niken: First, take medicine for your stomachache. Then, after it gets better you need to mind what you eat. Always eat the right foods so you can stay healthy.
Samsidar: Right foods? What do you know about the right foods, Niken?
Niken: I know a lot about the right food. I read books on healthy foods.
Samsidar: Okay, what are the best foods to eat, then?
Niken: You should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Samsidar: Okay. 
Niken: Next, avoid highly fatty and greasy foods. Avoid too much sugar and caffeine too.
Samsidar: Right.
Niken: One last thing, don’t eat too much spicy food like that cireng and hot chilly you ate.
Samsidar: Oh …. Now my stomach hurts again. I need to go now.
Niken: Okay, see you then
